Cox Morgan Overland is committed to protecting your privacy. This notice explains how we handle personal information when you use our site, what reaches us, who else processes it and the rights you hold under UK data protection law.
The short version
We collect only what is necessary to run an information portal about overland travel and 4x4 expeditions. Most visitors read our guides without handing over any personal details. If you contact us, we hold your email address and the content of your message. Our server logs record technical data such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you visit.
We do not sell, rent or trade your information. No third party receives your data for their own marketing purposes.
Data you hand over and data we observe
You provide personal information when you write to us through our contact form or by email. That includes your email address, your name if you give it and the text of your message. We observe technical information automatically: IP addresses, device type, referring URL and timestamps. This helps us understand how the site is used and identify technical problems.
We do not collect payment details, social media profiles or location data beyond what your IP address suggests. We do not ask for your age, income or household composition.
Processors and transfers
Our hosting provider processes server logs and stores the site's files. Our email service handles correspondence. Both operate under contracts that require them to protect your data and use it only on our instructions. Your information stays within the United Kingdom and the European Economic Area. We do not transfer data to countries without adequate protection.
If you embed content from another site while browsing ours—such as a video player or a map—that third party may set cookies or collect data under its own policy. We do not control those services.
Exercising your rights
Under the UK General Data Protection Regulation and the Data Protection Act 2018, you have the right to ask what personal data we hold about you, request a copy, correct inaccuracies and ask us to delete it where we have no legal ground to keep it. You may also object to processing or ask us to restrict it.
To make a request, write to us at [email protected]. We will respond within one month. If you believe we have mishandled your information, you may lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Retention
We keep correspondence for as long as the conversation remains relevant or until you ask us to delete it. Server logs are retained for up to twelve months for security and diagnostic purposes, then deleted. We do not hold data longer than necessary.
Minors
This site is open to all ages. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children, and our contact form does not ask for age. If a parent or guardian believes a child has sent us personal details and wishes them removed, contact us at the address above.
This notice may be updated to reflect changes in our practices or legal obligations. The current version is always available at this address. For questions about how we handle your information, write to [email protected].
